The secret of longevity is not only the peaceful way of life without stress so common in large urban areas, but also the natural healthy nutrition – simplicity and wealth of tastes, resulting from richness of nature on the island.


CVITI (FLOWERS)

1 kg of soft flour

25 dkg of fat

30 dkg of sugar

4 dkg of household ammonia

2 dcl of milk

4 whole eggs

2 yolks

2 vanillin sugar

peel of 1 lemon and 1 orange

few drops of rum extract

Mix well fat and sugar, add yolks and mix until foamy mixture is created. Add 2-3 spoons of flour. Mix slowly, then add household ammonia with boiling milk. Into the mixture add vanillin sugar, peel of lemon and orange, rum extract, salt and gradually add flour and well beaten egg white. The pastry obtained press until is only 0.5 cm thick, cut in the shape of Y and bake at temperature of 150°C – 170°C. Cold flowers cover with sugar.


SALT FISH PIE

1 kg of soft flour

30-40 dkg tomatoes

10 salt pilchards

1.5 leaven

1 spoonful of salt

2 spoonfuls of oil

Make soft pastry from flour, salt, oil and leaven. Leave it to grow, then divided it into two equal pieces, 2 cm thick. Cut onion warm on oil and add salt fish and tomatoes cut in small pieces. The prepared mixture put onto pastry, cover with the other part of pastry, and leave it to grow. Before baking, spray with oil and bake at ca 200°C for 30-40 minutes.
